WHAT'S HAPPENING High-level Conference: Listening to Children and Young People Around 280 adults, children and young people came together in Dublin to discuss improving how adults listen to children and young people, especially those in difficult situations. 21 of our young members were there, and so we had a special Platform meeting too! This included an exchange with Commissioner Michael McGrath as part of the opening session of the event, and an interview broadcast on Irish TV! OTHER NEWS EU Kids Act – Have your say The European Commission has announced a proposal to help keep children and teenagers safe online – called the EU Kids Act. You can give your feedback on the proposal until 26 November – but you need an email account to do so. Get more details Lundy Model resources for you in all EU languages In collaboration with the Irish government's Hub na nÓg (national centre of children and young people's participation), we translated their national Lundy-based participation framework into all EU languages. From events to resources, there's something for everyone to learn, participate in, and benefit from: Euro Youth Mental Health is looking for new members of its Youth Advisory Board, aged 18-27. See the criteria and apply by 30 October  UN Survey for Youth & Students on democracy and civic participation education. The survey invites students and young people of all ages to say how and where they learn about democracy and politics, and what could be improved. Complete the survey by 8 November  Contribute to the new Democratic Pact for Europe by adding your proposal (email address required) or voting on the proposals made by other people: Contribute or vote by 12 November 2026 Lessons and games in all EU languages on the Learning Corner: Trust or Trash – a learning course designed to help educators build students’ media literacy and critical thinking skills (ages 13-18). Vote for Turtle – a fun five-minute online game for older teens to learn about disinformation Project kit – for children aged 3-6. EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2026: Celebrating Intergenerational Fairness With EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2026 now concluded, it’s time to look back at this year’s campaign and celebrate the achievements helping make urban mobility more sustainable and inclusive. From 16 to 22 September, over 3,000 towns and cities in 44 countries took part, marking the highest level of participation since 2023. Under the theme Mobility for Everyone, this year’s campaign highlighted the importance of intergenerational fairness and ensuring that everyone, including future generations, can benefit from sustainable mobility.  Applications for the 2026 EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award and MOBILITYACTION Award are open until 31 October! Find out how to apply below and put your efforts in the spotlight.  In this edition, we revisit the highlights of this year’s campaign, bring you the latest MOBILITYACTION in the Spotlight, and explain how you can apply for the 2026 MOBILITYAWARDS.  Finally, we would like to extend our warmest thanks to everyone who took part in EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2026. Your engagement and commitment continue to drive progress towards more sustainable and inclusive mobility across Europe and beyond. Don’t miss the chance to apply for the 2026 EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK & MOBILITYACTION Awards!  Each year, the European Commission’s annual EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK and MOBILITYACTION Awards recognise local authorities and organisations that demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing sustainable urban mobility.  Applications for the 2026 MOBILITYAWARDS are open until 31 October 2026. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your achievements and gain recognition for your efforts to make urban mobility more sustainable and inclusive. Finalists will be announced in early 2027, with the winners celebrated at an award ceremony in Brussels in mid-March 2027. Last year’s MOBILITYAWARDS were won by the city of Riga (Latvia) and the organisation Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen – South Tyrol (Italy).    Apply for the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award, here.   Apply for the MOBILITYACTION Award, here.    Highlights from EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2026  This year, EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK continued its focus on Mobility for Everyone, while emphasising intergenerational fairness and the importance of accessible, affordable and reliable transport for all, including for future generations.   With over 3,000 towns and cities across 44 countries taking part, Europe came alive with activities promoting sustainable mobility. From car-free streets in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Riga (Latvia) to an intergenerational cycling trip in Kotor (Montenegro) and improvements to cycling infrastructure in Gdańsk (Poland), local communities showed how walking, cycling and public transport can bring people together and put the vision of sustainable mobility into action.  The campaign kicked off with a video message from Apostolos Tzitzikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, who also joined for a launch event in Strasbourg and campaign activities at the CIVITAS Forum in Thessaloniki. Alongside the main campaign video, the week brought together communities across Europe to celebrate sustainable mobility and inspire change that lasts beyond the campaign.  Discover more activities from across Europe during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2026, including the Commissioner’s involvement, here.  For more information on this year’s participants and their activities, click here.   To revisit this year’s theme, as well as read the 2026 Fact Sheet, click here.   To learn about wider European efforts to promote intergenerational fairness, read about the Commission’s pledge here.   MOBILITYACTION in the spotlight: cycling through the crisis in Chernihiv, Ukraine  Since 2022, the non-governmental organisation Eco Misto Chernihiv has been promoting sustainable mobility in Chernihiv, Ukraine, using bicycles to support communities affected by war. Through the international #BikesForUkraine initiative, bicycles have helped volunteers, medics and internally displaced people access essential supplies and deliver humanitarian aid.  The organisation’s social bike workshop, Velokukhnia (Bike Kitchen), has repaired over 1,000 bicycles while providing free repair skills. Further initiatives have expanded cycling infrastructure, created public spaces and delivered 240 bicycles to de-occupied and war-affected communities, alongside new bike parking facilities and repair stations.  Read more about this inspiring MOBILITYACTION, here.  Find out more about the #BikesForUkraine initiative, here.
