Learning from award-winning Riga
The city of Riga (Latvia) won the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award 2025 for its creative approach to reclaiming public space, promoting active mobility and encouraging community participation. During the recent National Coordinators meeting, hosted by Riga, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the city's award-winning initiatives and its success in creating more people-centred streets.

In our interview with Marta Kotello, Chairperson of the Riga City Council Traffic and Transport Committee, she reflects on the city's award-winning activities, the value of temporary ‘pop-up’ street transformations and the importance of engaging residents in shaping the future of urban mobility.
