Inclusion, collaboration, resilience and connectedness. These were just some of the key themes at this year's CIVITAS Forum, the flagship sustainable mobility conference of the CIVITAS Initiative hosted by the City of Parma between 1-3 October.

EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK was also represented at the event in the exhibition area by Coordinator Juan Caballero. There he joined forces with 400+ sustainable mobility policymakers, practitioners, planners, academics and more to share knowledge and collaborate towards greener, safer and more sustainable ways of moving.

The City of Parma has committed to implementing the EU Cycling Declaration. The Letter of Commitment, signed by Gianluca Borghi, Parma Deputy Mayor for Environmental Sustainability, Energy and Mobility, during the closing plenary of the CIVITAS Forum 2024, outlines Parma's plans to set the wheels in motion for other cities to follow suit in implementing the European Declaration on Cycling.

As Gianluca Borghi, Parma Deputy Mayor for Environmental Sustainability, Energy and Mobility, noted during the Declaration’s presentation, “As cities across Europe work to achieve climate neutrality and improve quality of life, it is imperative that cycling remains a priority in EU sustainable mobility strategies.”

We bid farewell to this year’s theme ‘Shared public space’
It’s time to say goodbye to this year's theme: ‘Shared Public Space’.

The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2024 theme kicked off enthusiastically with the campaign video and the campaign week launch video, underlining the benefits that public space brings to society when each individual contributes in a respectful way to one another, and showing that 'public space belongs to everyone'.

To revisit the topic, read the thematic factsheets here.
