As part of the preparation of the EU’s new Digital Fairness Act, 4,786 EU children and teenagers provided input through an online survey in April. They gave their views about access, safety and fairness on apps, websites, online games and social media.
Children and young people from 10 EU countries met in Berlin to share, learn, and put together recommendations on how children can feel safe and listened to on mental health issues, and how adults and services can better support their well-being.
Commission President Ursula von der Leyen set up a Special Panel on child safety online. It brings together young people and experts in areas like health, psychology, computer science and child rights. Ayata and Zuzanna represented children’s voices at the panel’s third and final meeting.
Combining information and data from EU countries, experts and children, the EU has published a report on strengthening the European Child Guarantee. It outlines the progress made, what problems still exist and what should happen next.
Standards for meaningful child participation in global events
Under the banner of 'Include Us!' the standards were created by a dedicated task group of children and young people as guidance and good practice for adult organisers and facilitators of global events involving children.
The new European Competence Center on Inclusive, Meaningful, Safe, and Ethical Child Participation brings together organisations, institutions, practitioners, children and young people in a shared space for learning, exchange, and collaboration.
